Although the flower colour only varies a little, there is a wide range of forms in cultivation. The best have well shaped white flowers of good substance. These often have a brownish stain on the lower part of the outside of the petals. There is a lilac form, which has a yellow throat and the name Crocus hadriaticus subspecies hadriaticus forma lilacinus. Crocus hadriaticus parnonicus has lilac flowers, which lack the yellow throat. Crocus hadriaticus parnassicus has pure white flowers, which lack the yellow throat.
